Numerical Investigation of Fatigue Behavior of Non-patched and Patched Aluminum/Composite Plates

In this study, the fatigue behavior of composite patched and non-patched Al 5083 aluminum plates was numerically investigated. Aluminum with semi-circular notched (2, 3 4 mm long cracked) "V" (30°, 45° 60° angled) were used in analyzes. Mechanical properties plate, DP460 type adhesive produced by 3M [0°]8 glass fiber reinforced patch material for study. The Finite Element Method applied numerical Numerical analyzes performed Ansys version 15.0 Workbench Package program. As a result highest life (1593.2 N) is seen on 30° angled specimen. However, specimen (30° notched) found to be 277.69 N. Thus, study revealed that patch's contribution very important.
